Be Part of a Growing Industry: Get a Green Job Today

Have you heard the buzz on the streets and in the media about the newest most promising and prosperous industries in the national market today? Well, the buzz is about the blossoming green industry where job openings are popping up across the board. Data shows that, even in this unfortunate and devastating recession where unemployment is inevitable, the green market and economy continue to grow and flourish. Job growth in this market is even more likely and unstoppable. Despite all of this, the green industry still has a loyal and pure mission that all workers and employees are working hard for: a cleaner economy and planet for future generations. So, are you sold on the idea of becoming part of this burgeoning market and industry? Here's some advice and tips on how to get that perfect green job for you.

In order to be successful in the green industry, you should always research what you are getting yourself into. Many people do not understand that green workers and employees have different standards and expectations (in a good way of course). Read about not only this, but also what the technical definition for a green job is. Also, look into possible fields you are interested in and the qualifications. This will help you in the long run.

With the aid of modern technology and the magical World Wide Web, job seekers have easy access to various websites that contain a plethora of job listings in the green market. Take a few hours to sift through these various sites and all the listings they have to offer. If you are new to any green field or have no prior knowledge, try looking more towards entry level positions. Either that, or look for a job that requires skills you have acquired already. A good example of this is management, which is always needed throughout the green industry and its many sectors. On the other hand, if you are a college graduate in a green field (environmental science, etc.) or even engineering (high in demand in the green market and industry… all kinds of engineers), you know what skills you have and what to look for. But, imagine your dream job; even if it is not a "green collar" job, there is most likely a green-version of that job. Okay, an exception to that is a rock-star or professional athlete. But, you know, anything else besides that.

Lastly, put together your resume and review it carefully. Did you leave anything out? Every possible skill could come in handy (well, maybe not being able to play the accordion or kicking a hacky-sack back and forth continuously one thousand times) but business related skills. For example, technical skills are high in demand with the continuously changing market and technology that will make running the green industry much more efficient. Are you good at math? Write it down. Are you great with communicating with people or clients? Include it! Employers like to know that their employees are very thorough. But, most importantly, have fun with the journey of finding your brand new promising green career!
