Geothermal Installer-HVAC Training Schooling

Are you interested in becoming or starting a career as a geothermal installer? You will need to learn the knowledge in order to complete this task. For the most part you will need to have an understanding of HVAC. There are knowledge courses that can really help you on this endeavor as well.

To get an HVAC understanding you may want to look at getting certified. Certification is generally a two year course. They can be found at you local community college. This certification and classes could cost a total of around $6 to $14 thousand. Additionally there may be online courses. However a hand's on course is usually better. Hands on course can cost around $500 to $1500 each.

When it comes to certification, knowledge is power. Technically you generally DO NOT need to certified to be a geothermal installer, but it helps. In order to get a real advantage over the competition, you may want to consider a few certification options.

The North American Technician Excellence is a certification program for HVAC. This will give you a national certification. It will be a great place to market yourself within that community as a niche HVAC installer, or to customers as a certified installer. A second certification to look into is by the International Ground Source heat Pump Association. They offer a three day course for $550 on everything you need to know about installing geothermal heat pumps (You should consider taking it). Keep in mind that a general background is needed, as so you won't be lost on what the instructor is saying. It will also get you listed on the site as completed the course. This can give you great exposure in this new field.

Generally speaking, once you have the knowledge you feel you need, it will be time to pick the product. There are many different manufacturers with many advantages to each one. Pick the company(ies) that you like and call them to become a distributor. It will only take you a couple of years to really start going in this exploding field.
