Natalie Boeckerhttp://www.TheWhyCircle.com/nkboecker Are you considering "Going Green? What exactly does it mean? Why would you want to "Go Green"? How To Go GreenThere are many methods you can use to actually "Go Green." For instance you can recycle, start a compost, support "green" companies and use eco-friendly products. If you are interested in learning more, you can also do your own research into "Going Green." (Please refer to the Web sites listed below.) Why Go Green?Believe it or not, 72,000 chemicals have been introduced into this country since WWII; only several hundred (a fraction!) have been tested for long-term safety. As you can imagine, we don't know all of the implications of these chemicals on our health and environment. Using products that do not contain harmful chemicals makes sense for you, your health and our environment. Simple First Step - Avoid Chemicals in Your HomeThe Environmental Protection Agency states that indoor air quality is 5 to 7 times worse than outdoor air quality. One reason is because of the chemicals in every day products used in the home. The EPA also tells us that the two most dangerous machines in our home are the washing machine and the dishwasher. Why? Because the cleaners used in the machines can contain bleach, lye, ammonia, phosphates, and phenols - none of which are good for your health or the environment! Many cosmetics and personal care products are preserved with formaldehyde - a known carcinogen. Reconsider your Household CleanersTo avoid exposure to caustic chemicals, consider buying household cleaners and personal care products that are manufactured without harmful ingredients. There are many reputable vendors that offer suitable products. Remember that no one is regulating the "green" market, so buy from a reputable source, and do your homework! Why not take a proactive step toward protecting your family's health, and the health of our environment. GO GREEN!!!
