Green Restaurants- Good Business Idea or Not?By Cindy Sha from Steam Mop Reviews. The human need for food and nourishment is ever present. Because of this, industries and companies that supply this need (and do it well) are never in lack of work. Food is a billion dollar industry and just may be one of the first types of businesses ever launched. If you're interested in launching a new food related business, then you have to choose what type of restaurant you wish to create. The most popular categories include fast food/ restaurant chains, low end restaurants, mid range restaurants catered to the middle class and high end restaurants catered to those who want the best and don't particularly mind cost. The ideas presented in this article would definitely be difficult and likely impractical to implement in a fast food chain and low end restaurants. If you're interested in creating a niche-y small restaurant that caters to folks that are interested in high quality food along with a different atmosphere, this just might be the idea you're looking for. Presenting The Green RestaurantThe Green restaurant is a term coined from the idea of having a restaurant that has founded itself on green practices. By green practices, it implements the best processes that actually positively impact the environment and the world by extension. It is also an idea- the idea that business can be practical, profitable and even cater to high end clients while doing a world of good. The main attraction of this restaurant would be the fact that it grows its own raw materials i.e. fruits and vegetables. This represents a substantial investment to obtain land and perhaps a few workers, but the benefits and profits can very well outstrip the costs. By growing your own fruits and vegetables you will have a higher degree of control over the quality. It has been found that organically grown vegetation is tastier, healthier and best of all, has not absorbed toxic chemicals found in insecticides and other common farming supplies. It may be more expensive than purchasing "normal" foods; however these costs can be negated by appealing to high end clients. Many people who have gone raw or only eat organic foods are at the higher end of the income bracket. This means that they will pay higher prices for food that fits into their chosen lifestyle and provides exactly what they want and desire. Growing food organically is not only good from a nutritional standpoint, but also for the earth. Since you will not be using insecticides and other chemical based solutions, this will have a positive impact on the environment. Chemicals from pesticides are usually absorbed in the air and in our waterways. These pollute both of these mediums which cause much destruction to both plant and animal life. By growing foods organically, your business will not be contributing to the destruction of our environment. A Smart Way To Reduce Costs And Increase Food QualityOne way you can reduce the cost of farming your own vegetables while also being a green practice is to create a compost tank. This should be held off the restaurant compound, but you can use the vegetable peels and other refusals from the kitchen to create the compost. Since your restaurant will always be producing these "wastes" it is a highly sustainable practice. Additionally, it is completely organic and is the best plant food that is available. You don't need to use any chemicals to nourish your gardens, as the compost will do a far superior job. Can We Turn It Up A Notch? The idea of creating a green restaurant can even be further enhanced by maximizing consumer attraction. How? One of the ways in which restaurants attract more customers is to provide not only a great meal, but also an experience. Some of the most critically acclaimed restaurants create different atmospheres to suit their clients. For example, there are asylum restaurants where the booths mimic jail cells and even restaurants which are run completely in the dark. The point of the dark restaurant is that you can't see your food, so the taste is enhanced. These may be far out ideas, but they are real life examples of how people have used experience to create top notch restaurants and demand some of the best rates. One of the ways you can spin this in a green light is to create an outdoor or forest-type dining experience. The food prepared is green themed, so it is only suitable that it is served in a natural environment. You can certainly use this idea and create different versions depending on your capital and ability. SummaryCreating a green restaurant is definitely an interesting business model and one which we hope to see more of. By making "Green" popular, stylish and new, you can get more people interested and become aware of what needs to be changed. Once more people become aware, a snowball effect is sure to follow in both business and our individual lives. Green Business Articles
