Have a Green Job: Transform the One You Already Have!
Many people are waking up after years in a "dead end job" sleep and they are discovering that their jobs are going nowhere. They are also discovering that they are not happy doing what they do Monday through Friday every single week. Satisfaction and happiness is what people are looking for in today's society. It's not cool to be unhappy at work. The most common way to have fulfillment at a job is to do something you may really love or do something that is directly helping others. A green can definitely fill this void. And what if you have a job in the green field and are unhappy? Change it!
There are so many different green-collar that the list would be too long to give. With all the ways to better the environment green-collar jobs are at the forefront of some of the most advanced technology in the world. So that means if you are already in technology, why not switch to a green company where you may be doing something similar, but the company that you now work for uses the energy or resources in a different manner and instead of taking something from the environment now you may be giving something back to it.
One of the most commonly given reasons for people switching to a green-collar career is to reduce their carbon footprint. It has been said that if every human reduced their carbon footprint then there would be a lot more clean air and clean drinking water. Pollution comes from the lack of human responsibility and some people are realizing this and are just finally saying," you know what, forget this; I'm going to make a difference". And that is the attitude needed. Too many people are passive about the environment in this day and age.
The incentives of a green-collar job are definitely better than other fields. Green-collar jobs get tax breaks that most other job fields can't receive, loan forgiveness for educational loans and much more. They also offer health benefit discounts. There are programs for green employees to get major discounts on green (fuel efficient) cars. The opportunities and benefits are endless. Why wouldn't want to jump ship and try something new? Isn't life about making smart decisions and investments? Well, maybe the best decision in a person's life may be the decision to tell their current employee," see ya later" and make their way to an exciting career that also pays well financially and emotionally. The statistics are saying that people don't want green jobs because, with the unemployment rate still very high in a lot of places people are still not trying to work in the green field or lacking the motivation to go back to school and get some green knowledge and skills.
