Our ability to bridge policy and science is truly one of SPEA?s greatest strengths. The world is in critical need of scientists who will lead in integrating their expertise with policy makers to address environmental protection, preservation, and sustainability. SPEA and the College of Arts and Sciences inaugurated the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) degree?a unique cooperative program between two leading schools of Indiana University. Designed as a rigorous interdisciplinary science curriculum, the degree is intended to prepare students either for direct entry into an environmental science career or for graduate study in the traditional sciences or environmental science. SPEA is training tomorrow?s social entrepreneurs through the Graduate Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship. As the first formal university-based social entrepreneurship program in the Midwest, it combines the nonprofit, public policy, and business worlds. It is distinct in that it brings together SPEA, the Kelley School of Business, and the Center on Philanthropy in a one-of-a-kind collaboration.
