Pest Control Technician-Exterminator

Did you know that spraying pesticides is the last option for pest control? These days' pest control technicians are consulting about the steps necessary to take to rid a home or building of pests. Most of the time, spraying will take place after fully analyzing a lot of things.

The career outlook for a pest control technician is favorable. They make on average $27-$40 thousand a year.

Integrated pest management (IPM) is an environmentally sensitive approach to pest management. Before the green push, we would think that exterminators would come spray and that would be the end of the pests. However, pest control is growing side by side with the green movement. IPM takes a full approach to the problem. By determining what clients can do themselves to prevent pests, the need to spray never comes into play. The last step is targeted spraying. Beyond this approach, they are starting to switch over to bio-pesticides. This approach has help make pest control technician a green career.

This job is great for those who like warm weather. Since most bugs are generally drawn to this weather, there is more of a demand for technicians.

The National Pest Management Association is a great place to join once you are ready to start you career. To start your career in this field you will need a high school diploma or equivalent. Most states require some kind of classroom hours and hours on the job. A state test may be needed.

If you decide to go into this field, make sure you are a people person. You will be working with many different clients. A good friendly attitude is necessary. The green job field is always expanding. It is easier than ever to find the job that fits you.
