There are many different types of plants in the world, and they each have their own pros and cons. For the strongest and healthiest plants under a variety of weather conditions, scientists and plant breeders will blend the two types that are hardiest together in hopes of finding a plant that is able to withstand, endure or even thrive in the conditions it will surely be facing. Some plants are bred with one another so that they will bear more fruit or longer lasting, sweeter smelling flowers. Some plants are even bred so that they will grow faster than normal. What skills are necessary? Some general knowledge of plants, how they grow and breeding techniques is obviously necessary. Other skills that could be useful would be some basic genetics and hybrid techniques. Some companies might require a degree in botany while others would not find that necessary. Some companies would also ask that you be able to keep their plans and experiments quiet as well. Meticulous record keeping will also be a necessary skill for this job. What are the income projections and estimates for the job?Although obviously it would vary depending on the type of degree that is held, the type of job that is being done and what the purpose of the plant that is being bred is, most plants have benefits of some kind somewhere and so would be worth proper breeding and growing. Who makes up the target audience?Anyone who would benefit from certain plants, which have been bred for their benefits. This includes farmers, plant enthusiasts and botanists. Specialty plants that would have a more narrowed market appeal may only be sought by certain people while other plants might have more of an audience. What is the risk?Risks in this venture include a plan failure, (not every plant will grow perfectly or as expected) Protests from those who think that bio engineering is wrong and loathsome is also a problem. Location: Where can this business be started? What is the best place? The best place for this type of business would be one where the weather is fairly constant without major swings in either direction. This would allow for easier conditions inside of the green house without using additional energy to do so. What does it really take to open the door?It takes the dedication to breed the plants, endure the failures and nurture the successes. It also takes the desire try breeding schemes that have either not been tried or have failed in the past. Breeding plants can allow you to find the best of two possible worlds, providing that the experiment works correctly. If not, you may find yourself staring at pile of failed leaves and roots instead.
