Sex and Our Agriculture

Embryogenesis will occur naturally, resulting from sexual fertilization and formation of a zygote which is the first stage of the embryo's development. It contains DNA from both the Mother and the Father. It is required to form a new individual or plant. All mammals and plants go through the zygote stage. The next step is embryo and the next a fetus. It is the very beginning of life. This embryo combines with other cells from the Mother and forms a seed. A seed is just a very small embryo plant and food covered in a coat. After germination takes place a new plant is formed. Germination is when the small seed becomes a plant.

Embryogenetic tissue is usually what is formed at the very beginning of growth. It is made up of living cells. It can be considered in different stages of growth but it is what is formed at the beginning of growth as a bud on a plant. Seed bearing plants are different from plants that have flowers. Seed bearing plants are considered naked because they are just the bare plants. Pine trees are a prime example. Flowering plants fertilize differently

The ovulating part of a flower is pollinated. Then the grain of pollen germinates in reaction to sucrose secreted. A pollen tube grows from each pollen grain. This then attaches itself to the ovary through what looks like a tube. After that a pollen tube breaks into the ovule through a tiny pore. This does not happen in a straight line. It twists and turns and then breaks into the embryo sac.

After fertilization enzymes are created that serve as nutrients for the pollen tube as it grows. So a growing plant consists of three nuclei one tube and two sperm. In flowering plants two sperm cells are released into the ovary. This is when the zygote is formed and fertilization really occurs. Pollination and Fertilization are not the same process. After fertilization the cell becomes a plant embryo. This process not only occurs in flowering plants but when there are stems with buds on them. The buds have to wait until conditions are right before they bloom. The may be in a waiting state for example as they wait for winter to end and spring to occur. During this state of waiting they are in what is known as an embryonic state.

Even plants have a very similar process of creation and growth like humans. As well just like humans they are directly affected by the environment. If conditions are too dry they will not grow. They also need nutrients. Destruction of our soil has had a drastic effect on our plant life. Also acid rain destroys any growth of any type of life. Plants play an important role in our ecosystem and they need to be protected from the effects that are quickly obliterating them. They play just as big a role for humans as they do for animals. They are necessary for our very existence.
