1. Change the light bulbs. Since company buildings are usually powered 24 hours a day, it is important to switch your old lights to CFL Bulbs. The costs of these bulbs are initially higher than your normal bulb; however they will pay for themselves within 500 hours. They usually last approximately 10,000 hours, use a quarter as much energy and release less heat. This will definitely save you a pretty penny in yearly electrical costs.

2. Reduce your organizations paper usage. Simply inform all employees to print on both sides of each copy paper. This will instantly halve the money you spend on purchasing copy paper while saving the trees.

3. Start a Work Recycle program. Most of us are familiar with doing this at home; however it can have an even greater impact if it is implemented in the workplace. Simply place recycle bins in strategic locations in the office, label them appropriately and inform your employees.

4. Allow customers to be able to receive communication via email. You can also clean your mailing list in conjunction with this. By doing these two actions you will reduce the number of undeliverable packages and reduce revenue spent on printing and mailing costs.

5. Reduce business travel. It is common for many businesses to have meetings in multiple countries, states or towns which translate into a lot of airplane travelling, hotel costs as well as food expenses. This of course leaves a sizeable carbon footprint depending on the company and it is also very costly. One simple way to reduce this is by using web conferencing where you can hold virtual meetings over the Internet.
