Studying For The Environment
The variety of jobs available in the Environmental Sector is growing more and more every day. The environment is constantly changing and humanity is in a desperate fight to save her. The demand for workers in the environmental field continues to expand. From the guy that installs solar panels to the Ph.D. who tracks global warming. Environmental science is an excellent career choice with lots of opportunities for growth. The amount of opportunities will be largely based on where you reside. Small communities probably won't have many openings in the environmental field. Larger cities would have many more opportunities. These are just a few of the many career choices that are available:
* Technicians- installing products that are sustainable use renewable/alternative energies and are energy efficient.
* Engineers- develop methods for capturing renewable energy, creating mechanisms to deliver renewable energy to people and making products and structures more energy efficient They also develop ways to restore the environment.
* Lab Technicians- studying what effects different items have on the environment, studying ways to remove GHG's from the atmosphere and creating ways to renew our natural resources.
* Program Coordinators- developing programs to raise funds for projects, promoting public awareness, teaching people about the environment and the problems it is facing. Developing programs to build more sustainable products/vehicles/structures and developing programs to protect and conserve the environment.
* Enforcement Officers- they follows different international acts and bylaws to enforce the protection of the environment. This can mean preventing illegal hunting and fishing, the dumping of toxic waste and pollutants, protecting certain sections of forest from harvesting or protecting wildlife enclosed habitats from unsanitary conditions.
* Resource Managers- dividing up a section of an ecosystem to meet the needs of the government and any concerned public. They also protect areas with significant history, wildlife management zones and areas of special concern.
* Consultants- attend sites where structure development is occurring and make sure everything is to code and that certain areas are protected.
Environmental does not consist of just one area of focus. It involves biology, chemistry, science and geology to name just a few. Therefore; each specified field contains the above listed environmental positions. Each position requires different amounts of education and experience. They may require different types of engineering or technician training. You also need to be familiar with testing techniques, bylaws and procedures. A masters or doctorate degree in a specific field will provide a very lucrative environmental career.
Many people who have a passion for the environment find it very rewarding to have a career in these fields. No matter whether you're interested in the earth, the air or the water there is a job for you. All these areas are in jeopardy right now and all need as many people as possible fighting to save it. Studying to save the planet is a choice that we all need to make whether or not we make a career out of it. We should all be students learning what we can do to give our earth a strong future.
