The book is part of a project I started during my own MBA. After many years working with and at the United Nations in sustainability projects internationally, I left to pursue an MBA to learn more about what the business sector was doing in this area. The original plan had been to then go and work on these issues from within a company after completing my MBA, working to make changes from the inside out.
However once I started the MBA, I realised that students weren't being adequately exposed to sustainability issues, and so I started a project looking at how to educate the next generation of business leaders in sustainability issues to give more individuals the tools to make changes in their own businesses. "The Sustainable MBA" book resulted from this project, and it is now being used in a variety of ways; by universities developing new green MBA courses and as a resource for standard MBA courses, by career service departments to help advise graduates and job seekers about sustainability career options, by different clubs and community groups using it as a conversation piece and awareness raising tool and by businesses using it for in-house training and to encourage employees to start thinking about how to bring sustainability to their jobs.
