Urban Planning Career on the Rise!

Going green used to be a slow growing trend, but not anymore. Many people in the present day have become aware of this trend and want to make a change. Making the environment more eco-friendly starts at home and continues in the workplace. Many green jobs are available today and you can only expect to see a rise in green jobs as we move into the next age of living. Our society as a whole seeks to remain in good health through eco-friendly living and improved surroundings.

Urban planning is a green related career that is on the rise. There are many urban areas that need to be developed or completely restructured to become more eco-friendly to the environment. Too many towns and cities in the world are filled with pollutants that make living very unhealthy. A town planner draws up ideas to make a change in urban development to make these areas more sustainable. These areas need to have healthy and safe surroundings for all living beings. People need to be able to have a sense stability knowing that the area they live in is safe for their children and their offspring.

Urban Planners establish long and short term goals to help resolve economic, public, and ecosystem issues. They propose locations for infrastructure, libraries, schools, landscaping and more. Planners discuss rebuilding challenges that face urban areas with developers and city leaders to formulate a plan of action. The planner makes a recommendation, but city leaders make the final decision on what plans will be carried out. Developers and public individuals have a say, but government has the last word.

Urban planning is one of the most rewarding green jobs of tomorrow. Local governments hire many urban and regional planners for development projects. Employment in this field is expected to grow upwards of 15% or more in the next decade. It is best to be well educated in economic development, public policy, architecture, landscape, transportation and public health as all these things will be considered in developing urban areas.

Landing a job in the green industry is both exciting and rewarding. People in this job field remain happy and satisfied in their positions. These people take on a huge responsibility of making a complete change to urban regions that need help redeveloping infrastructure, land and buildings for more sustainable living. The average salary for an Urban Planner can range from $50k to $100k per year. This may be more or less depending on the area a planner is hired to develop. Areas where the economy is booming might pay higher wages than an area hit hard by a damaged economy. However, those areas that need an economic helping hand may need the support of a town planner to redevelop their surroundings and create sustainability.

"I can’t thank you enough. I thought building a house is way harder. I already built the foundation and the walls. I used all your tips and they worked great. In about 2 months, we will probably be able to move there if we want to." - Actual Testimonial
