Green Careers Guide

What Green Job is Right for You?

The world is chocked full of choices. From the mundane, like choosing between a hotdog and burger, to the important, like choosing between job offers. With all of these different choices bombarding people, day in and out, it is not surprising that a lot people long for things to be simpler.

Most of the time, people long for simplicity, where they only need to choose from a few choices, but alas, the world will always confront you with a myriad of choices.

Everyday decision-making is stressful enough for the regular person, but sadly, there are still more pressure to be felt as life goes on. Thankfully, it is only during some key moments in our lives. The extra pressure stated above comes in the form of life changing decisions such as career decisions.

As a way to try to take some pressure off the youth when it comes to choosing their future career, tests have been made, like career aptitude tests. Though the aptitude test does indeed point some people to the right direction, others may find themselves confused and unhappy about the results of the test, but they should not dismay. Career aptitude tests can indeed point you to the right direction, but the choice is still ultimately yours. The test was just designed to show you what your strengths and weaknesses are and to list down potential careers that make use of your strengths.

However, if you are more conscious about the environment, you might be considering a job that is focused on helping the environment - a green job. When people say "green job", it is just not about one particular job, for under the "green job" term there are literally hundreds of different jobs. Confused and pressured to choose as to which is which? Don't be!

Like other jobs, green jobs are categorized. First you have to find out what you are really interested in, be it animals, forests, preserving natural resources, etc. Once you know your interest, you can pick a skill that you are good at that can help you as you endeavor towards your environmentally positive goal/s. After you have evaluated yourself, learn about your future career choice, then and only then can you decide.

In spite of all that you have read or all that was said to you, the choice is still ultimately yours. Also, never forget that it is never too late to change a career. Yes, there will be consequences, but you should always go for the work that also makes you happy.
