Wind Turbine Manufacturer

When you think of wind energy, you probably think of the tall, windmill looking structures. Building a turbine takes energy as well, and ironically, not all turbines are built using very green methods. For those who find this criminal rather than amusing, finding a green turbine manufacturer is a battle cry, not a suggestion.

What skills do I need?

The ability to work with your hands and tools is a must. The knowledge of how wind energy works is helpful as is a general mechanical aptitude. You should also be able to see ways to make improvements and changes in basic designs.

What educational background should I have?

Although a degree in engineering would be most helpful, a working knowledge of how turbines work is the important consideration. Not every major captain of industry has a degree, although the majority of them do. Solid working knowledge of math and science is key here- master those and you are on the way.

What are the major needs of this concept at start-up?

Demonstrable ability to get the job done is the first key to success. Having orders in hand might be a good idea as well. Also, you should be able to show that you know what a turbine is, what it does and what it should look like when competed as well.

Who are the target audience?

Those who are interested in using wind energy, major companies that plan to sell these turbines to their customers and clients, designers who will incorporate wind energy turbines into their designs.

Who is the competition?

In a small area, you may be the only one of your kind. In a larger area, you may be in competition with others in the same field.

What are the risks?

Not doing enough market research leading you to build and begin your operation in an area with a small or limited consumer base. Not being realistic in your pricing needs and driving your business to financial ruin. Underestimating the need for further education of the general, American public before wind energy is more widely accepted than it is right now. Not doing enough research so that you can find the best price on materials to lower costs and broaden profit margins. Finally, not doing enough to lower the cost of overhead which also cuts into profit margins.

Where is the best place to locate this business?

The best place to locate a turbine manufacturing plant is where wind energy is already established as a viable means of alternative energy and the need is already in place. You cannot have a start up business in an area where you have to actually find and target a core group, educate them and then hope they come to you to fulfill their needs.
