Bramson ORT College Renewable Energy Technician Certificate training program is designed for individuals who wish to enter the job market with the skills to install, maintain, and troubleshoot photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, solar thermal systems and biofuel manufacturing equipment. Student technicians will learn the practical design criteria, installation guidelines, materials & resources, green buildings, safety issues, maintenance and troubleshooting, and legal considerations of Renewable Energy systems. Student will also be trained in energy assessment, auditing and efficiency.
A range of employers, from manufacturers producing component parts for renewable technologies to construction companies and utilities, will need workers with knowledge and skills in energy efficiency and renewable energy systems. Without a skilled workforce to manufacture components, install, monitor and maintain renewable energy systems, and operate the biorefineries of the future, the nation will be unable to achieve its critically important goals of energy independence and security.
Graduates will be prepared to accept entry-level positions in the industry for companies such as the U.S. Department of Energy, Con Edison Corporation and any other energy generating and or energy related fields and industries. They will be able to work with a team of highly skilled professional in the fields of Renewable Energy Technology industry.
The Renewable Energy Technician Certification program is in line with the mission of Bramson ORT College, which is to provide quality professional postsecondary education to meet the career needs of the emerging community. The program is closely related to the Electronics Technology Associate Degree (AAS) and the existing Electronics Technician Certificate course of study.
