Masters Degree in Science Degree in Acupuncture (MSA)

• 118.5 credit (2,235 contact hour) program
• Covers theory, history and philosophy of Oriental medicine
• Extensive training in Oriental medicine pattern differentiation and diagnosis
• Extensive clinical training focusing on the application of acupuncture treatment, including –
o practical skills instruction
o clinical observation & assistantship
o year-long clinical internship under guidance of expert practitioners
• All aspects of Oriental medicine modalities are taught, including –
o Tuina (Asian bodywork)
o Qigong (Qi cultivation techniques)
o Moxibustion, Gua Sha, and other adjunctive techniques
o Eastern Dietary Therapy
• Comprehensive biomedicine education including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and western clinical medicine. Anatomy courses include time in our campus cadaver labs.
• Emphasis of the program also includes effective practice management, and understanding of scientific research.

This program is ideal for students interested in an education in acupuncture and Oriental medicine that includes comprehensive training in the application of acupuncture treatment.
Masters Degree in Science Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MSAOM)

• 160.5 credit (3,000 contact hour) program
• Encompasses entirety of MSA program training
• Additional training focused on the practice and application of Chinese herbal medicine, including –
o study of individual medicinal agents & herbal formulas
o further training in pattern differentiation, diagnosis, and application of herbal therapy
o practical training in herb dispensary management and herb preparation
o training related to herb safety, toxicity and herb/drug interactions
• Additional training focusing on the clinical application of Chinese herbal medicine, including –
o clinical observation & assistantship courses that involve training and hours working in the medicinal herb dispensary
o extensive clinical internship training thoroughly incorporating application of herbal medicine with patients in a variety of clinical settings
o extensive training in application of raw herb formulas, granular herb mixtures, and prepared herb products

This program is ideal for students interested in a comprehensive education in Oriental medicine that includes Chinese herbal medicine, or for those individuals planning to apply for licensure in a state requiring training in herbal medicine.
