Going green is no longer just the right thing to do. It’s also a smart career move. Demand is higher than ever for skilled workers in such fields as renewable energy, resource stewardship, environmental oversight, and land management. They’re the industries ― and the career pathways ― of the future.

Lakeland has been sending people into those careers for a long time. Nearly 100 percent of our students go directly into the work force or acquire a 4-year degree, and then join the work force.

No matter your interest Lakeland College's new environmental sciences diploma with 4 coordinated majors can provide the education to meet your career goals.

• the renamed environmental monitoring & protection (EMP) major has an enhanced curriculum with emphasis on water quality protection--a growing area of employment and environmental concern. As well there's a concentration on careers as environmental monitoring specialists working with industries to provide environmental protection
• the perennially popular with industry and students, environmental conservation & reclamation (ERC) major
• a growing area of focus, urban conservation and stewardship, has been added to the conservation & restoration ecology (CARE) major curriculum
• the birds, animals, fish and other water life are still the primary focus of the long runningwildlife & fisheries conservation (WFC) major . The program is accredited by the North American Wildlife Technology Association, and graduates receive a Wildlife Technology Certificate.

Environmental Management
Choose to major in either reclamation and remediation or monitoring and environmental protection and make a larger difference as a project manager, inspector, or specialist. With your deeper understanding of field ecology study, assessment and report creation, you will complete a placement term that will solidify your learning.
