DCOM's curriculum is a four-year, full-time academic and clinical degree program leading to granting the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). The curriculum will stress the interdependence of the biological, clinical, behavioral and social sciences. The emphasis will be on educating physicians for primary care medicine, employing the distinctive osteopathic prinicples for the maintenance of health and treatment of disease.
The curriculum is divided into two phases:
1. Pre-clinical Sciences (Years 1 and 2)
2. Clinical experiences (Years 3 and 4)
A primary care physician must be skilled in problem solving and demonstrate expertise in diagnosis. In order to achieve this goal, the DCOM curricula emphasizes the integration of the basic and clinical sciences in medical practice.
