The Environmental Science Program is an interdisciplinary graduate program offered by the Faculty of Science on the St. John's campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland. It is distinct from, but complementary to, two graduate programs in Memorial's Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, namely Environmental Systems Engineering and Management and Environmental Engineering.
Students enter the Environmental Science Program from a wide range of undergraduate science backgrounds, including the undergraduate program in Environmental Science offered at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College (Memorial's campus in Corner Brook). Our graduate program gives students an opportunity to build upon their undergraduate science education, to investigate its environmental relevance, to see how it relates to other scientific disciplines important in Environmental Science, and to learn more about these other disciplines.
There are three ways to complete a degree through the Environmental Science Graduate Program: one is a course-based program leading to the degree of Master of Environmental Science (M.Env.Sci.); the other is a more research-intensive program leading to the degree of M.Sc. (Environmental Science), and the third is the research-based PhD.
