As an environmental technologist, you evaluate air, water, ground water and soil quality through sampling, monitoring, analysis, data collection and report writing within the environmental field.

The first year covers the basic science, mathematics, and communication skills that not only provides the foundation for the second year of the program, but also the skills necessary to gain student employment in between the first and second academic years.

Some courses are common and may be used as credit courses for other technology options. In the second year, you specialize in courses that develop the knowledge and skills necessary to operate laboratory, field and monitoring equipment and to apply scientific techniques in the assessment of land, water and air quality.

The program includes one practical field placement of four (4) weeks in the last term of studies to provide an opportunity to relate your studies to an environmental setting.
