Our accredited, master's degree programs in acupuncture and Oriental medicine emphasize the unified understanding of the mind, body and spirit inherent in traditional Chinese medicine. In addition, our acupuncture college and Oriental medicine school provides you with an essential balance between learning the ancient techniques of Chinese medicine and understanding the practices of Western medicine.
The curriculum for the Master of Oriental Medicine program:
• Provides about 3,000 hours of didactic and clinical instruction;
• Includes courses in acupuncture, Chinese herbology, Western medical screening, and related studies such as Tui Na, Tai Ji, Nei Jing, introductory Chinese language skills and practice management;
• Takes three years of full-time enrollment to complete.
The curriculum for the Master of Acupuncture program;
• Is similar to that of the Oriental medicine program, but does not include herbal studies;
• Provides more than 2,300 hours of instruction;
• Takes two and two-thirds years of full-time enrollment to complete.
As an MCAOM student intern, you'll provide hands-on acupuncture and Oriental medicine services to members of the public experiencing a wide variety of health conditions. You'll provide supervised care in the Edith Davis Teaching Clinic on the University campus, as well as in health care clinics and community agencies throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area. When you graduate, you'll have the education and skills necessary to develop a safe and effective practice based on your own personal style.
