The Center for Future Energy Systems (CFES) conducts fundamental and applied research to accelerate the development of energy efficient and renewable energy technologies. Working with other academic and government institutions, and with many industry partners, we focus on the synthesis and characterization of new energy materials, devices and systems. Project areas include low cost high efficiency photovoltaic solar cells, wind turbine blade performance enhancement, advanced lighting sources, fuel cell testing and characterization, intelligent building architectures, energy storage technologies and smart grid test bed.
