At SWIHA, we understand that overall health and balance are attained when all aspects of our beings are connected-emotionally, physically and spiritually. Our Holistic Healthcare Degree Program concentrates on prevention and education to improve the health of your clients, community and the environment through the use of natural medicine.

While earning your Associate of Occupational Studies Degree, you will learn to treat the physical body with classes like nutrition, massage and bodywork. Emotional and spiritual well-being is promoted through hypnotherapy, life coaching, spiritual studies and yoga. We fully embrace the ideals put forth by the American Holistic Health Association by promoting holistic health to create wellness.

The Holistic Health Care Associates Degree program is designed to have 137 hours of General Education classes, including Mastery Skills for Health Care Practitioners, Public Speaking, Writing for Publication and a Statistical Research Project.

The Holistic Health Care Core classes include: Introduction to Life Coaching, Hypnotherapy - Foundations Level I, Introduction to Nutrition, Introduction to Ayurveda, Stress Management and Optimum Health and Wellness.

As part of this degree program, graduates develop a vocational expertise in massage, Asian bodywork or Western Herbalism. As with all of the degree programs and many of the diploma programs at SWIHA, students choose a specialty that best expresses their 'gifts'. There are 15 choices known a Primary Specialties which include areas such as Aromatherapy, Chinese Shamanistic Medicine, Cranial Unwinding; Hypnotherapy; Life Coaching, Reflexology, Reiki, Polarity, Spiritual Studies, and Yoga Teacher Training.

Students who attend the program full-time may be earn their degree in as little as 18 months, earning up to 60 credits. Part-time students may earn their degree in 37 months. This program is considered two academic years and Title IV Federal Financial aid is available to those students who qualify.
