Alternate fuels technology is strongly emphasized by the University of Northwestern Ohio's College of Technologies. The University is one of the original six founding members of the National Alternate Fuels Training Consortium.

The curriculum in the Alternate Fuels program includes hands-on training in the following areas:

* Diagnosis and System Maintenance
* Conversion kits and installation
* Alternate fuels like: M85 and E85, electric, propane, compressed natural gas, ethanol, biodiesel, hydrogen and many more
* An extensive understanding of key components, such as: regulators, converters, lock-offs, mixers, and injectors

The University owns the largest training aid fleet in the country, which consists of alternate fuels and new technology vehicles. This fleet exposes the student to a broad spectrum of vehicles that are being used more and more by consumers worldwide.

At the end of this program students can achieve several certificates in Alternate Fuels to add to their resumes. Our world is changing and today's technicians need to keep up with the demands. In the UNOH College of Technologies' Alternate Fuels Program, we train students to keep up with the constant changes in this industry.
