The College of Agriculture and Bioresources is an interdisciplinary applied-sciences college with expertise in — and integrated across — three primary scientific and social domains:

Sustainable Production Systems— safe and high-quality food and bio-based products produced by efficient and globally competitive agriculture and forestry sectors in alignment with other natural resource development.

Environment, Ecology, Community— responsible management of soil, water and biotic resources provides improved economic opportunity and quality of life, especially for people in rural areas.

Safe Food Supply and Bioproducts— safe, nutritious and affordable food, beverages and wellness products — as well as bio-based industrial and pharmaceutical products derived from renewable resources – required to meet the demands of a healthy and growing world population.

BSA
In this four-year applied life sciences program students learn a strong core of knowledge in basic scientific and technical theory, and how to apply that knowledge to real-world situations. Topics of study depend upon personal interest. You can opt to select both major and minor specializations.

BSc RRM
The rapid expansion in both renewable and non-renewable resource sectors in Western Canada has created a growing demand for graduates able to effectively manage these sectors. Issues such as bioremediation of contaminated land, evaluation of ecological goods and services, forestry and agroforestry systems, indigenous peoples’ resource management, and greenhouse gas mitigation for example, require graduates trained in specific management approaches who also understand the broader societal context in which they occur.

The BSc in Renewable Resource Management is an applied science degree that focuses on management of land, biological, and water resources and provides high-level technical skills that ensure graduates are highly employable in the resource sector. Graduates are also grounded in the larger societal issues that are the hallmark of a superior university education.
