The central focus of these "green" happenings at the UVJVS is to create opportunities and career pathways for individual students. The Alternative Energy and Green Systems Program will kick off this coming September with a full Career Development Program. The PELL Grant fundable training options will last up to five quarters. This program is going to create exciting opportunities for men and women of all ages, backgrounds, and interests. UVJVS Adult Division is now part of the University System of Ohio. Students can apply what they achieve at the UVJVS toward college credit if desired.
In the foreseeable future it is anticipated that expertise in alternative energy will become the standard for building inspectors, contractors, builders, HVAC/R technicians, plumbers, grounds, facilities/plant maintenance and management.
The Alternative Energy and Green Systems Management Program will cover Science and Environmental Systems during Quarters 1 and 2. Quarters 3 and 4 focus on Solar, Wind, Geothermal, and other Alternative Energy Resources. Quarter 5 delves into processes, green building science, and prepares students for LEED Accredited Professional Certification exam.
