Mission

The Bioprocessing & Bioproducts Engineering Laboratory (BBEL) contributes to the College of Agriculture, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences and the College of Engineering and Architecture at Washington State University in serving the State of Washington as the land grant university in the state. BBEL conducts research, development, education, and technology transfer addressing bioenergy, bioproducts, and environmental issues. In doing so, the BBEL advances related sciences and technologies that benefit the broader society.

Vision

BBEL strives to become one of the leading research programs in the field of bioenergy and bioproducts measured by unique approaches, unique competences, unique capabilities, and impactful accomplishments. Through innovation and excellence, BBEL will become an active contributor to the upcoming bioeconomy.

BBEL Culture

Twenty research associates and graduate students work together in dynamic and creative research teams. High standards are maintained by positive, proactive, and productive self expectations through an environment of hardwork, contribution, accountability and mutual support and communication.
